I know that this time of year is all about giving, but let’s not forget about the Gift of Getting. ;-) You know one of the best things about working at TechRestore? It’s like Christmas, all the time. We get “presents”, lots of them, each day. And you just never know what’s going to be inside those brightly wrapped packages until they are opened up. In the case of repairs, we’re constantly surprised by the gifts we get – loads of laptops, many complete, some in pieces. Truckloads of iPods, PSPs and other gaming systems in various states of non-operation that our Technical elves do their magic on to get them working again. Some of these gifts are wrapped nicely and in some cases we’ve seen them come in wrapped in t-shirts, socks, newspapers and sometimes there’s no packaging at all and we are amazed that someone thought it was a good idea to ship a $2000 laptop to us in an envelope.

And then there’s the other goodies – packages and pallets from literally all over the world that contain the fuel that the TechRestore engine needs to run: LCD screens, hard drives, logic boards, cables, case parts, accessories, memory – everything you need to repair, create and use all these shiny toys that we love so much. This week, we got in a treasure that we haven’t seen in quite awhile – big tall pallets, loaded with MacBooks, MacBook Pros, PowerBooks and iBooks. Unwrapped these goodies brought big smiles to everyone in the warehouse and we quickly had units going through our rigorous Restore process before offering them to you for sale. Today Renee and are headed out a bit early, picking up the kids from school and them whisking them off to San Francisco for our annual Holiday Trip to the City. We’ve made a tradition out of spending a weekend in SF each December, taking some family or friends with us to enjoy the sites and holiday entertainment. We keep things a secret and just surprise the kids, even though Skylar is pretty much ahead of the game and knows what’s going on by now, but it’s still fun to just head across the Bay Bridge with them each year, without telling them what’s going on. We’re staying at the W hotel, right across from the site of MacWorld Expo that will be happening in just a few weeks – it’s a great hotel with a huge indoor swimming pool that the kids love to splash around in while the rain comes pouring down on the glass dome that covers the pool area. We’ll do a lot of nothing much, strolling around town, visiting Union Square, gaping at the giant Gingerbread house at the St. Francis hotel, maybe catch a movie, hit the pool again and generally just enjoy each others company. One more reason why this is such a great time of year.

Holiday schedule update. We know how important your gear is to you – so, we’ll be working hard during the holiday’s to insure your Macs, iPhones, iPods and gaming systems get back into your hands as soon as possible. We will be shipping repairs out up until 1PM on December 24th, closed on Christmas day and then returning on 12/26.
